Cubans in Russia Reject US
Blockade
Moscow, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) The Association of Cuban Residents
in Russia reiterated their rejection of the US blockade against
the Island after attending a meeting of the Cuban community in Europe
held in Barcelona recently.
During a meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Russia Juan Valdes Figueroa,
leader of the Association Bernardo Torres said that the meeting
in Spain also discussed the case of The Five anti-terrorist Cuban
fighters unfairly held in US prisons.
He described the Barcelona gathering as positive, well organized
and very useful.
He also referred expectations about the meeting "Nation and
Immigration" scheduled for February in Cuba and reiterated
the interest of the Cuban community in Russia to take an active
part in actions involving Cuba and join efforts for a common cause.
Cuban Ambassador Valdes Figueroa said that because of historical
conditions, the Cuban community in Russia has a high intellectual
and political level and referred to the immigration meeting to be
held in the Island.
"The current task is to achieve unity above differences, as
we are all Cubans. We are all blockaded by the United States,"
he noted.
He considered Cuban residents as ambassadors regarding Cuban issues
and highlighted the positive atmosphere prevailing in bilateral
relations, including economic links.
