Baracoa
was quickly evacuated
Cubasi.com Jan 13.- Quickness, discipline, and cooperation characterized
the actions of about 30 thousand people evacuated today by the Municipal
Defense Council (MDC) in Baracoa, before the possible tsunami danger.
The mobilization was declared, as a result of the earthquake of
7 degrees of magnitude, occurred at 16:53 hours Tuesday in the town
of Carrefour, 15 km away from Port au Prince, the capital of the
neighboring island of Haiti.
After the evacuation was indicated by the MDC, the neighbors of
Baracoa seafront and the coastal areas: Cabacú, El Turey,
and Mabujabo managed to move in less than an hour into the upper
parts of the city, told ACN Eudis Romero Suarez, first secretary
of the Communist Party in Baracoa.
